About Us
ABOUT THE TEXAS STATE ASSOCIATION OF FIRE FIGHTERS
Established in 1938, TSAFF is the only organization representing professional firefighters in Texas. We are an affiliate of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF).
TSAFF members earn the benefits of having access to state and national fire service resources while their local associations maintain local autonomy in day-to-day operations.
From the fire ground to city halls and the state capitol, TSAFF advocates on public safety issues important to the citizens we serve and to firefighter families. For decades, we have led the way for advancement of the fire service in Texas.
With the investment and support of Texas firefighters, TSAFF provides a wide range of training, health and safety resources, and political and legislative support for our affiliates. Our affiliates convene every two years to set the direction of the state association and elect our officers and trustees.
TSAFF is politically active – and we work with leaders across the political spectrum. Texas firefighters can often be seen at the state capitol. Our team in Austin works to help pass legislation related to the fire service and we help defeat legislation harmful to it.
People sometimes ask: Why are Texas firefighters involved in politics? The answer is simple: As long as elected officials and their appointees control the resources we rely upon to deliver excellent fire and emergency medical services (EMS), we’ll be at the table, fighting for what we believe is right. And we’re working to keep firefighters as safe as possible on the job and to keep the workplace fair. This cooperation benefits firefighters and the communities we serve.
On behalf of our members in more than 200 Texas communities, the TSAFF executive board, trustees and staff thank you for your support of Texas firefighters.
