As the 89th Session of the Texas Legislature continues, Texas firefighter leaders made the most of Firefighter Day at the state capitol, raising awareness of pending bills related to public and firefighter safety and state regulation of fire and EMS services. About 120 firefighters met with legislators and staff members throughout the capitol complex on Tuesday. We led discussions about longstanding and new issues, including pending bills TSAFF is sponsoring or supporting. In the past four sessions, legislators have passed 17 TSAFF-sponsored bills. Thanks to the firefighters that advocated this week for more than 19,000 members in 200 Texas communities.
