Construction Begins on New TSAFF Property

After sale of southside property, renovation work is underway on the new TSAFF property in downtown Austin, a block from the state capitol.

Architectural renderings for the new TSAFF office show two meeting configurations.

Work is underway on the new TSAFF property at 1011 San Jacinto Blvd. in Austin.

Renovation activity at the property, which faces the southeast corner of the state capitol complex, began with city permit approvals and demolition work in early October.

The 2,452-square-foot property includes a fourth-floor reception area, six offices, a small conference room, a kitchen and break room, and a common-area that can be configured for TSAFF board and other meetings, including small events with state legislators and staff.

Late last year, TSAFF sold its Radam Lane property in south Austin for about $1.3 million. The state association purchased the property in 1997 for about $200,000.

TSAFF President John Riddle reported that development costs for the new $1.1 million property are expected to be at or below the sale price of the Radam Lane property, making the overall project cost-neutral for the state association.
